IFFTEX 2006 IFFTEX 2006 we was there! DSA took the shuttle out to the newly completed ( just in time ) India Expo Center and Mart at Greater Noida , New Delhi. Quite a hike to get there but EPCH had set up shuttle buses from many venues around the city to fetch and return you to your hotel . A good place to mix and network with the buyers and agents before hitting the trade fair running ( and tiptoeing in between the workmen still adding finishing touches) to try and cover some of the 450 plus exhibitors who had set up stalls for the event. Among some of the new products viewed included Outstanding wood decor products from Saharanpur ..of special interest if you run a furniture shop or home decor goods. High quality , innovative designs Cushions cushions cushions in leather , shaggy silk pile , beaded sequined zari cutwork , bold and bright or more subtle raw silk , shiny gemstones on cotton... Bags ..leather beaded canvas and some of the most amazing jute products. Beaded tops , we found a quality manufacturer of tops not far from Delhi so we can keep an eye on production for you . let us know what you are looking for. Comforters .....suede topped , soft cotton under ....luxury. Also Poly Silk , Velvet and embroidered and much more. Beads......Glass beads in every shape and style ...what are you looking for? DSA will be there , can we be there for you? top BHADOHI - Magic Carpet ride at Bhadohi. DSA went to Bhadohi to try our hand at carpets and rugs. Bhadohi , one of the original carpet and rug production centers of India spanning back decades. Wherever you look in Bhadohi you see the carpet weaving industry , cycles carrying loads of wool from one place to another , carpets on their way to being washed , wool en route to the dyeing vats , rugs heading for the trimming factories ...a truck load heading for the ports at Kolkata or Mumbai ....everything said to us that this is rug country. We were not disappointed , by the end of day one our heads were spinning with the varieties and types available , different materials , counts , patterns trims styles and knots and the trusty DSA camera battery was dangerously close to flat with the pictures taken. Some special sized carpets were being woven in excess of 4,5 by 15 meters. We were shown a rug that was woven 30 years ago of hand spun wool and was so heavy you wouldn't want to freight it anywhere today , but still going strong after all these years .....just like the industry in Bhadohi because we found a courtesy and a desire to not just sell carpets but establish a relationship. We saw some new designs and new products being developed and include a few in our product catalogue . Let us know what you are looking for we can source and ship as little as 3 or 4 carpets . We also discovered a small shop producing outstanding complete beaded Salwar kameez sets for around 20 Usd. Add a zero and you could have picked them up in some of Delhi's big name boutiques. We can source them for you. top VARANASI We visited Varanasi DSA Visited the ancient city of Varanasi , home of the most incredible silk looms and bead work...we came we saw we captured on camera much of what is available in silk. Famed city of 4 000 years , Varanasi is home of Silk and Rayon production centres and with the current beaded zari work in vogue we shot hundreds of photos of Cushion covers shimmering silk in all sizes and colors sparkling with beads , mirrors and sequins . Table cloths in Organza with wonderful cutwork Ready made curtains Bed Covers and full bed sets Wall hangings And sample upon sample upon sample of the most beautiful exquisite shiny dupion silk and organza fabrics.
